Fast Facts: Founded by Samuel de Champlain in 1608, Quebec City is the capital and the second most populous city in the province of Quebec in Canada. Its motto is “Don de Dieu feray valoir” which when translated into the English language as “I shall put God’s gift to good use”.

Etymology: Historical records believed that the origin of the name Quebec is from the Algonquin term Kébec meaning ‘where the river narrows” because of the narrowing of the Saint Lawrence River, Cape Diamond and the city of Lévis.
