A global city and the top generating economy of Eastern Canada, the metropolitan is the capital of Nova Scotia, a province of Canada. Halifax was established in 1996 through the merging of all 18 municipalities of Halifax County. Its motto is “E Mari Merces” Latin for “From the Sea, Wealth”.

Travellers would never have a dull time in the city as many attractions are within cab distance. Among the city’s famous landmarks are the Halifax Town Clock, Halifax Transit Ferry, Citadel Hill, Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse, Maritime Museum of the Atlantic and the Downtown Halifax.

The municipalities’ major employers are in the government services including the Department of National Defence, Dalhousie University as well as the Port and Shipyard of Halifax. Moreover, the region’s transportation and manufacturing has also provided job opportunities for locals. Among them are the Halifax Stanfield International Airport and the Irving Shipbuilding Inc.

Mining of gold, limestone, shale, gypsum and clay, along with fishing and forestry are also sectors that generate work labours. Farming in the Agricultural district in Musquodoboit Valley has also provided locals with jobs.
